Hello I am currently on the Saab uk site and was wondering if any of you techy's could answer this........ My timing belt/Chain snapped yesterday but I've been told it's not all doom and gloom as this vehicle has a (safe) engine in it and would not need replacing, maybe just a camshaft and timing belt. It is a 2007 saab 9-3 diesel estate sport 1.9tdi.....please help coz I'd love to keep it , it's otherwise in great nick, plz help.

No modern engine is safe..ref 1.9 it damages the rockers, after that belt, rollers, tensioner and waterpump all need changing..2007 should have had at least 3-4 belt changes..

As far as i remeber All are interference design, so bad news ..
however, there are few times where i saw interference engines break their timing belts and survive the catastrophe, u can tell quickly if u have chance by looking at the cams, if the cams are stopped near TDC Then there is a good chance all u need is just a belt
