"Time for service"??

I've been having trouble with my stupid SID3. I had the 160000km dealer service done but I was in a rush and the mechanic forgot to clear the code with the tech2 OBD2 scanner. I tried to clear it manually but it wouldn't clear. I returned the car back to the dealer they cleared the code but it only took two started and its "TIME FOR SERVICE" again!!

Any advice??

Been there done that.

It's been 6 day's since the car has been to the dealer to have the code cleared and it still hasn't gone away. I've cleared it manually by holding clear until the beep and the next time I start the car it's "TIME FOR SERVICE".

Any other thoughts??
Mine did this, but it did just go away on its own after a few starts. Would a code reader at AutoZone or Advanced be able to clear this out? That's OBD II, but is it definatly this function or a Tech II or something?
Carefully read the owner's manual, it is really helpful in many areas..
I think this is a case where the FAQ and owners manuals might be incorrect. Maybe some of our SID's have a bug or something. I've tried clearing mine too with no permanent luck. However in my case it does go away after 20 starts.

Did you keep holding it until the SECOND beep?

What he said. Munki's reply in the post about this in the FAQ clearly explains it.
...and it worked for me last week, as it always does...
I'm having the same issue w/Time for Service. I can hold the clear button for over a minute and no beep. Pushing "set" clears the message until the next start-up. Supposed to go away in 21 starts. We'll see. Not working IAW the owners manual.

One of those Saab quirks that is annoying and stupid. Since I've owned my car I've never had a SID message that indicated a real problem--only a faulty sensor or issue with SID itself. Not to mention the problem with pixels, etc. I'd be happy if it just showed temperature outside and radio/CD funtions.

I think this is my favorite SID feature too. The mpg is nice. I've had a couple real "low coolant" warnings, but no true errors so far (knock wood).
I solved my problem for some reason my SID3 doesn't follow the instructions in the manual or FAQ too well.

The sequence I used for future reference...

1) Wait for message and hit clear to hide message
2) Hold clear and wait for it to say "clearing" keep holding until you hear the first beep. Here's were my is strange I can keep holding for 10 minutes and nothing will happen.
3) Release clear
4) Hold clear again and wait for hit to say "service" keep holding until you hear the second beep.

Sorry about the confussion but I was under the impression I should keep holding and wait for it to say service not release and hold again.

Hope this helps anyone with simular problems.
