This is a bit of a long one. I have a '98 95, The engine was replace with a rebuilt unit in 2008 with PCV 6. I've put about 40K miles on it since. I've changed oil/filter every 6K, servicing it myself and using only synthetic oil. Recently the car was with the local indie specialist, brought in to get the ACC sorted. He convinced me to get the rocker cover cleaned (acid dipped), promising this combined with a new PCV kit would cure the oil leak. His view is "that these engines only leak if the breather system is blocked". And as you can probably guess, the oil leak is still there, he's pointed out that it's coming from the chain side of the block from the head casket. And here is where I'm looking for advice. Because the oil is coming from there, what are your thoughts on re-torquing the head bolts, there is no coolant in the oil and there is no over heating. My view is that there I've nothing to lose, the prescribed route would be to get the head skimmed and head gasket replaced but that's a bit rich for my blood. If the re-torquing doesn't work then I'm looking at getting the head gasket done any way or a replacement. Another question, could the leak be caused by fitting a TD04, could this have caused too much pressure in the block and forced the oil out through any route available?

Thanks,
Mike.
