I had a metallic noise like a foil carton rattling in the breeze that I could hear when I opened the door or was next to the car. Turned out to be a heat shield around the exhaust - the garage just pulled it off and said it was fixed !!! Hasn't caused a problem yet...

Josh, can you help us out a little? Where abouts could it be?
Inside or outside the car?
Front (like the engine) Mid(inside the cabin) or Rear (in the trunk)?
Up high like the roof or under the car?
Left side like on the driver side or right side?

Are you OOW?

I had one that sounds like this a while ago. It turned out to be a clip on the bottom back of the drivers seat. I noticed it most when accelerating or braking at low speeds. I'd check to be sure everything is attached there as it should be.

Nope. Still under warranty. But, I haven't had time to schedule a dealer appointment and they'll probably tell me that they "couldn't reproduce" the problem anyhow.

The sound is coming from inside the house... ... err, inside the car, either from the somewhere around the middle console or CD player.

I'll check that clip out though.

Thanks.

Before you try to fix rattles, be sure to empty the car of stuff. CDs, coins, tire pressure gauges, hands-free devices, sunglasses, etc.

One of my pet peeves is the hard plastic interior of the armrest storage area. I keep my CDs in there and they rattle against the walls of the compartment. Saab should have lined it with felt, or rubber, or something.

The source.

The rattle is coming from the seatbelt housing next to the center console...

You can reproduce the sound if you are buckled in and then gyrate back and forth while grabbing the steering wheel. Try it when you have the car off and the a.c. off.

Maybe a spring or something. I pulled the entire console off and drove around with it, and even ordered a new ignition switch before I found out where it was coming from.

Not even worth fixing at this point... I just decided to drive this thing with all of the rattles... and just live my life.

If you know an easy fix, then please let is know. Silicone spray, perhaps?

eh, i dont think it would be that hard to line it with felt..... I dont think it would be that hard to buy a CD wallet either :cheesy:
Anything I put in there will rattle, not just jewel cases. But I am considering spending $3 on a length of felt and finding some superglue.

I had the "tink tink" sound coming from the point where the seat-belt clip housing pivots (clip housing between the seat and the centre console). You can reproduce the sound by manually moving the housing from side to side but typicaly happened when my leg moved to change gear. I sprayed some silicone lubricant onto the pivot (using the plastic straw that came attached to the can) and the sound has gone and not returned yet after 4 months. No other rattles to report on my MY05.:cheesy:
