So I have the problrem many people are suffering from where the tonneau cover won't go up fully without a little bit of help.

A PDF on the problem:

I think I might have found the part for it but I'm not sure. If you go to thesaabsite and do a search for part KT2233321, it shows up as a bracket kit, is this the right one? I sent them email and they claim it to be but its hard to believe this kit alone costs $200.

It's not actually a bracket for the motor itself, rather a reinforcement for the bracket that connects the tonneau cover to the gears on the motor...

The SAAB P/N is 4613519. List price is $8.10...!

Any reputable dealer should be able to provide this to you - they do, however, often refuse to give the instructions with it, hence the instructions on GenuineSaab.

Yep! If your tonneau goes up a little ways, then makes a ratcheting noise - this is your kit! It will work great as long as you haven't been continually trying to open and close the top while you've had this problem...

I've actually raised it and lowered it three or four times but I always take it to .2 seconds after it goes racketing... and then pull it up a little manually and it goes down fine.

Did you do the install or the dealership? How much should I expect?

I took it to ScanWest (Seattle indy shop) - I didn't want to be in there messing with the top and end up causing myself a massive repair bill! ;) They did the install and fix, and did top recalibration - total bill for the top work was about $450 - 500 (can't remember exactly - they did some other work at the same time so the actual total amount included other work).

edit: tried to use $$ instead of the 'ss' in massive and it got bleeped out!:cheesy:

Eeee.... that much huh... argh. I only have a dealership around here, no saab specialists... Man, that amount of money would have went towards a new DIC and rear sway bar and brakes... but if i don't fix it now it'll only get worse for the gearing... what to do..

If you're up to it - try doing it yourself. There are tons of posts on *cough*SaabNet*cough* by people that do it themselves...
