Well, she's finally let me down after a 12yr relationship. Not bad going really.
Sooo....

I am offering my trusty '96 9000CSE 2ltr lpt for sale as either a repair project or to strip for spares.
I would rather do this myself but simply don't have the time or space.
Road tax expires today and mot june 3. She drives beautifully but I don't have the time to fix her up in time for upcoming engagements.
Here is a list of things that need doing:

1. Heater matrix has gone and water leaks into the footwells and steam through the ducts. She'll drive happily but empties a header tank of water every 10 miles.

2. The fan speed selector only works on 4 and the aircon does not activate despite checks on gas level. I believe these 2 things are interrelated.

3. The radiator fan cuts in and out constantly and the temp gauge reads intermittently but never high - in just flicks on and off every few seconds pretty much in time with the fan cutting in.

4. The exhaust hanger that attaches to the passenger side lifting bracket has broken (kerb!) and the rubber tore. The hook on the pipe is undamaged. The exhaust itself is a full sport-cat stainless steel bespoke-built number only 2yrs old.

5. The stitching has unravelled across a rear seat squab - not torn so can be restitched. The seats are taupe leather and in very good condition otherwise, aside from the heat pad not working in the drivers electric seat.

Other than the above she runs true, brakes properly (recent new discs/pads all round, tyres have plenty of life in them) and goes like the clappers when asked.
About 60'000 ago I spent 3 grand on a proper top'n'side refurb on the engine. Chris McGuinness - Saab specialist, who did the work proclaimed her good for another 160thou. Current readout is 220thou

I will not try to present this old girl as a gleaming example but with some tlc she could scrub up better.
She has flown through the mot year on year with absolutely no work done except the exhaust! You'd think that the underside has been regularly steam cleaned too.

I really will miss her.

Offers chaps?

I'm told the scrap value is about £200
That would suit me plus it can be safely driven away.

I will wait a few days before declaring her SORN and I'm reasonably certain that the only thing she will fail mot on is the exhaust hanger.

No takers?

Hey ho.
I'd rather she went to a forum member for spares/repair. You'll know what you are looking at.

I'll give it another 24hrs before accepting a breakers offer of £180 to take her away.

Going.........going........

Hi Fox

Sad to hear it is now time to move on. Had you been closer then I would have had her from you but sadly miles = £ and it wouldn't be worthwhile.

We met a couple of years back you may recall when you needed some door lock bits and bobs.
Is it another Saab up next ?
