I only could say thanks to maptun, as always, for their great customer service.

Always on forums we usually post threads when we have an issue and need help, but i think it should be fair to also express gratitude and expose good examples and experiences, for reference of other Saabers.

I have a B207L MY2003, now with the Maptun Stage 7, about 330bhp and 430NM. Forge intercooler, Bilstein B8 shocks Aero suspension(now only springs), Ap Racing brake kit, Quaife LSD and other stuff.

As per previous posts http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216983 about my experience with different tunes(it had Stage 4+). Recently I did a long trip for holidays, on the highway, I should recognize i was going quite fast, and one exhaust valve blown, causing some scratches to the piston and a small crack to the head. With the dealer we checked the damage, and it was easier and cheaper to put a new engine, when we saw the prices of the new ones.

I talked with the Maptun guys(Thanks Frederik A.) and as you may aware there are several Saab engines in stock at really competitive prices. I decided to buy a new one.

I asked for upgrade options, and with the stuff I have(Forge intercooler, LSD quaife, suspension etc...), I received a great offer for the new engine with the wossner pistons, the TD04XLT turbo, software and 630cc, why not? I thought, ok, if I try to sell it the value will be quite low, let's go!! After installing everything(I should say the Saab dealer it's superb, I couldn't do all of this without them), I had some hesitation when the turbo has high boost. As always....one coil.

As you can see the valve break cofmpletely the spark plug. Also the dealer noticed the exhaust manifold was broken, possibly this was generating the issue, and the previous excess of load on the exhaust valves, due the nordic stage 2 was forcing an higher boost, without downpipe.

After that, I notcied since some time ago, some "air noise" coming from the turbo, also with the previous Td04, I noticed that, but I thought it could be the higher boost, the wastegate needed to work a little bit harder, but few days ago, I pick-up the car and it begun to sound some "poping" noise coming from the turbo, like an air leak, only when it has some boost. the issue?..............The Ferrita downpipe installed three years ago, the flange has some breaks and scatches on the connection with the turbo.

I talked with Maptun, ferrita has warranty for live on their products, few months ago the silencer of the exhaust begun to rattle and they send me a new one without no costs(it was installed with the Stage 2 from Nordic). Ferrita has no downpipes on stock, they could send me a new flange (I need to do cuts, and welding) or wait several weeks for a new one, they are strugling to keep up with the demand. My god!! I thought, I have the 9000 doing repairs due a "retar****" that hit me several weeks ago, and the 900 it works but it has intermitent boost issues and hesitation. Maptun agreed with ferrita, they send me a new one from their own stock and replenish their with the one for me they should receive in three, four weeks. The same day, they send me a downpipe by fedex express, next moorning the dealer had the downpipe, repair the car, pass the MOT service, and go!!!

Sorry for the long story, but I am really happy, this car goes like the first day, comfortable, save, easy to drive, and hugely fast and enjoyable.

good to hear that maptun is keeping a great customer service reputation. Your not the first person i've seen blow a valve chunk due to tuning. Did you dyno with the new td04xlt?

At this time not. As I am doing the break-in up period. I only did 1700km, with the new engine.

At this time it's noticeable the torque, but mainly the response, instead there is a quite difference between when you push a little bit the throttle it mantains a really wonderful smooth progresion and when you push a little bit more than half and then goes quickly to the red and begins the party.

But I will tweak a little bit the tune, o increase a little bit the response, as for my taste I will prefer a little bit of more "punch", quickness in response.

One detail about the XLT, the dealer, notices than compared the TD04-14T, it was the one installed previously, the walls on the internal case, that goes to the downpipe are completely polish, to creaete a better shape and increase flow.
