Can anyone tell me how to test the Hall Effects sensor? I just bought a 1986 900 Turbo that will not start. PO says its only the Hall sensor that needs replacing. Distributor seems to spark only once when ignition is turned to start. I'd like to be more sure of this before I spend $200 or so on a new sensor.
Also, anyone got a used, working Hall sensor they would sell?

Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks.

When you crank the engine, does the tachometer bounce when the engine moves? If not, the hall sensor is not working. It's usually the wiring that's troublesome, check that out before you actually replace anything.

FYI, this would get better exposure in the workshop, this section is for performance.
