I had my temperature sensor replaced a few weeks ago because the gauge kept dropping to 0 every time I drove for a few miles. Apparently that didn't work because tonight the gauge would only stay in the 7-8 o'clock position, then drop to 0 and the CEL comes on. I restarted my car and the temp gauge goes back to the 7-8 o'clock position but the CEL is still on. My guess is the thermostat is stuck open, but I'm not positive. Oddly enough, the car seems to accelerate a bit faster. Is it ok to drive with this problem or is it something that needs to be addressed immediately?

I would also hazard a guess at the car running cool because the stat is stuck open. It won't do any harm (unlike running too hot), but economy may be affected slightly. I'd get it done sooner rather than later, its not too bad a job on the 9-5 4 cylinder engine.

Consensus is the T-stat will fix it. I will be putting in a new T-stat ASAP
