Hi all- I have a 2008 Sport/Combi with a bad ECM.
My question is: A 'module expert' type company tells me all I need to do is send orig. ECM, they clone it, send the a 'new' cloned one back and I simply install it. No issues with 'marrying' the car to the ECM etc. Keys dont need programming, etc.
So is it that easy? They want close to $500 for this.

(I already have a refurb ECM that my local non-Saab shop said they could not get to work. Local shop said they couldnt marry the new refurb ECM -they did not have tech2/Saab software, etc. They got stuck at the security settings).

Not sure now if this means refurb ECM is hosed, or can/should be cloned again?

I am 250 miles from nearest Saab specialist, so I either have to tow my car that far, or try this method. A local shop said they used this company recently with another 08 Saab, and had no problems)

Any experiences with these Module repair companies. Are they to be trusted? They said "payment up front" I think also, which concerns me a bit?

ANY advice knowledge is appreciated!

Clone means clone, so no need to marry etc, just P&P. Even sw (stage etc) works.
You can use refurb ECM if it is mechanically and electronically OK and it will work as your previous one.

I can not tell you if this company is trusted or not, but typically they are all OK.

Thanks. Thats what I am hoping for. (I do NOT want to buy tech2-laptop-software, etc.)
