Does anyone know whether it's feasible to replace an 94 GM900 ignition switch with a later 9-3 switch from, say, a 96/97 vehicle? I'm imagining they should be pretty similar.

The reason is, I can get a replacement switch (used) from a Saab yard but if there were known issues with 94\95 model switches, then I'm figuring a switch from a later model would be better?

One thing to consider is the 9-3 has the coded anti-theft key which sends a signal to the ignition switch, telling the ecu to unlock the ignition. If these wires dont interfere with the basic ignition wires, then you should not have a problem. I dont have a wiring diagram so I cant tell you for sure, but you need to make sure that the wires are compatible with your current ignition wires.
