Did my first plug change on my new to me 9-3 today. I don't have shop manuals so it took a moment or two to figure where the plugs were. Very cool design. The plug wire and ignition module are one and the same. Easiest plug change I've ever done. I especially like the fact that the area around the plugs is covered and totally enclosed preventing any grit from getting into the area. Dirt falling into the cylinders is almost impossible in this engine. I used NGK Iridium plugs. Anyway, just wanted to pass this along,

Congrats on taking maintenance matters into your own hands.

Most new engine designs attempt to eliminate spark plug wires if at all possible. I work in an engine assembly plant. It takes two extra people to install spark plug wires on an assembly line, instead of just installing the coil directly on the sparkplugs.

Total cost was under $50. And you cant put a price on getting to know your vehicle. I look forward to more maintenance, but hope it's preventative not required.
