Has anyone had a problem with their high beams? My driver's side one is out, and the car's display tells me so every time I try to use the brights ...The bulb has been replaced, I've toyed with the fuses and relays, and the low beam works all of the time and it's the same bulb, so the headlamp is getting power, right? What could it be, am I missing something?

Hi, After changing my headlight bulbs my driver side wasn't working either. Checked fuses, put in a bulb I knew was good still wouldn't work. Checked relays, was about to give up and then wiggled the big orange relay and that fixed it. (1999 9-3) Good luck

Check the harness that attaches to the light bulb make sure it is on the correct way and making a good connection. If I remember correctly there is two ways you can attach the light bulb only one is right.

I usually use a test light when doing headlights and other lites - sometimes it is just a loose connection or bad ground - or an inoperative relay...

The old VW relays used to take on moisture and water, the owners would drill drain holes in them..

I messed around with the relay and that didn't work, thanks anyway audiodude...Thanks earthworm and 900, I'm gonna check the connections starting at the harness at the back of the lamp and work my way towards the relay, guess I'll listen for a sloshing sound when I get to the relays this time? haha

With the test light ( or a Multimeter) , Haymond ,you may even find a defective brand new bulb !!

Very, very, rare, but you do know what can happen...

Yep, good thinking, I've got the one I replaced originally and I may try swapping out the passenger side bulb along with the other tests...Oh and I also felt I should mention/ask about that little blue high-beam indicator light that cars usually have on the dash.
When I hit my brights, nothing comes up to tell me they're on, and hasn't as long I've had the car, so is it a Saab thing not to have one? I hope it's something to do with the larger frontlight failure I posted about originally.
(I think I've noticed a place for one when the sun hits the panel at the right angle, and even though manufacturers make one panel for their whole model line, I feel like that's a pretty universal thing.)
