just got a 9 5 aero year 2000 73k on the clock.however just noticed very slight knock through steering wheel when pulling away in 1st and subsequent gears. Definitely not cv joints and no play in steering. Read somewhere could be play in the universal joint. Has anyone got any suggestions about what it could be. Its not a hinderance but its just a pain knowing its there. thanks DJ

look up under the dash where the pedals go.in your field of view you will see the lower steering column and flexi joint.atatched to that is the intermediate shaft and uni joint that goes through the firewall.the lower column and intermediate shaft join by means of a sliding splined shaft(ooeer)the grease in this gets dry and the shaft dosn't slide as easy and eliminate the knock.
try spraying with a good release spray (carefull not to get any on your floor or pedals)get it right in there with the nozzle atatchment and manualy slide the shaft in and out a little.this should help.
if not let me know whas it any improvement as this helps with diag
good luck and good choice on the aero
