Discussion Starter #1
hello
newbie in here, i got a problem starting my 96 9000.
when i turn the key to crank, nothing, not even the starter cranking noise. i thought, it was a bad starter. so, i took it out. i got it tested at two places. it is good. (oh, by the way hayne manual directions said to jack the car up and to take the starter out form the bottom. well, they lies. no room down there! i did it form top not much space between intake and the firewall. sucks)

so, i put the starter back in. one of my friend told me to try starting with a screwdriver, touch the two bolts on the serinod with the key in the crank position. it start up! now, that mean the starter is good, something wrong with the circuit or grounding.

anyone in here got any idea ??? help thanks

The starting circuit is simple and straight forward. When the key is at start, test the yellow wire to the starter solenoid for 12 volts. Apparently your are not getting that because your starter is good. Test to make sure. If you are not getting 12 volts, next test the ignition switch.

To do this make sure you have a good and fully charged battery.
