1992 turbo convertible

I was attempting to adjust rear brake caliper so the parking brake would be even on both brakes. The lever on left side moves a little and parking brake pulls it tight correctly. The one on passenger side is too loose and the lever moves all the way forward. With parking brake lever, it moves as far as the cable can pull it.

I tried adjusting the 4mm allen. I did not use too much force, it must have been stripped for years. To my surprise the whole splined thingy came out with my allen wrench (photo). I had no idea this is even how it worked.

My questions:

- Is there a solution for this?

- What is I cut off the stripped part and try using it?

- Is this a safety issue, other than the parking brake on right side?

Thanks,

No, the cables are working fine on both sides and move the levers very easily. The right caliper adjustment is apparently frozen. I did cut the bad part off of the splined thingy and tried again, but it's just stuck.

I am going to order rebuilt rear calipers and not fiddle around with this anymore.

Thanks much!
