Ok, did the search and for the life of me can't find a post like this (doesn't mean there isn't one )

Okay, i've got a 1990 Saab 900S non turbo. Now, the needle on the speedometer, sometimes when in the 20-35 mph range, shakes. Is there a way to fix this? like a kink in a line?
Is it cheap?
Can I do it myself?


Oh, and anyone know any good glue to keep the ceiling from caving in?

How on earth could you possibly fail to find anything? :lol: Whatever it is that you have been doing, try searching on more relevant keywords, such as "wobbly", "speedo" and "needle".

In short, it could be the needle cable or the spring itself. Have a look on www.twinsaabs.com in the C900 section > removing instrument panel > page 3.

A search on "headliner glue" reveals even more results.

hey man, yeah i'm not a good search person either. Jezzedee, perhaps you can put a sticky at the top of the forum page with some deatils and tips for searching, i and others would have intrest in this i'm sure, sorry i just can't get it to work for me all the time either.

A shaky needle is very common man, most times i have heard it is the spring, either way these less than reliable guage packs are delicate to fix, i too have the sakes and a non function odometer, as well as the tach jumping to 7000 when i shut the car off. the most important guage (temp guage) is all i'm REALLY worried about, it seems to work.

The most infuriating thing for me is that the search function won't let you type in short words, so it won't let you search for say "gearbox oil". How are you supposed to search for posts about that rather than just gearbox? There may be a way.

I preferred the search of the old forum software but the new software is better in pretty much every other way.

As for the cable. I've heard it's not an easy fix, so unless it's really annoying you you might just have to leave it be.

OK, I will if it'll help, but really I don't know what else to suggest - type in the keywords, pick the forum to search, and that's all there is to it.

Aha! First handy search tip coming up. With a word like oil in gearbox oil that is too short on its own, put it in quote marks, thus: "gearbox oil". It will then search on it. It won't work if you just put the word "oil" in quotes, but it will if you do "oil change", or "synthetic oil", for example. Some common 3 letter words work, like APC, but if it says the word is too short then try it in quotes with an additional description word.
