If you use anything other than the correct NGK plugs you will probably kill the DI, as for the platinum ones, I cannot see the benefit of the plug at 5 times the price of the standard NGK (NGK Spark Plug 9-5 1998 on NGK BCPR7ES-11 )which works fine even on very highly tuned applicationssaab4me said:i have a 1999 9-5 2.3 liter ..last week i went to the mechanic they say i got the wrong ngk ..they wanted to put in a platnium or a bosch and instead the saab manual say the NGK BCPR7ES-11 gap .0394+.00394 . for now i am still using the NGK recommended by saab ..

NGK website says the standard plugs for my engine are the BKR7ES-11 with a gap of 0.039
