I had ordered a set of 4 spark plugs from europarts.com under the assumption that these were the correct plugs for my car(2000 9-3 SE HOT). I read the manual today(should have done before ordering) and it states I need to use the PFR7H-10. Now my question is can I use the PFR6H-10 without problems or do I need to order the PFR7H-10.

By the way, If I do need to order the PFR7H-10, I have a brand new set of 4 PFR6H-10 that will be for sale if anyone needs a set.

I believe the 7's perform better on highway driving, and the 6's perform better in more of a city environment. It's something like that. I believe they call the 7's "hard driving" plugs, but it would almost reverse my previous comment. All I remember is reading a post that it's a matter of choice, and you can use either. I have 6's in my car now, but plan to try 7's since I drive a majority highway. Just make sure the plugs are NGK's or your car will spontaneously combust  j/k

Also, the plugs are gapped at .039 oem, the majority of SC posters prefer a
.035 gap.

I do a mix 50/50 city/hwy. and they are the NGK's for the price I paid they better be....

I will try them and see what happens. averaging 28mpg right now as measured by miles driven/ gallons used.

The 7 is the heat range, and on any HOT turbo, I would use exactly the plug specified by the manufacturer.

6 is hotter, MAYBE too "hot" for a HOT turbo...One other Saab engines, in the past, the use of a too hot plug could create a hot spot and melt a bit of the piston...
The use of a too cold plug could cause plug fouling..

I think I mentioned it earlier it is a 2000 9-3 SE.

The 28mpg is on the old plugs, I have not replaced them yet. They have at least 40k on them.

It's interesting that the '02 manual says the 6's are the ones to use.
The manual I have is for '00 and it states to use the 7's in all models.

hmmm.....quite the quandry

I contacted the dealership and was told either can be used as the 6's are listed as alternatives to the 7's. I was concerned because the tip on the electrodes looked different. the 6' come to more of a point, wereas the 7's are flat. So, I guess I will see what happens w/ the 6's
