I been spending quite a bit of time thinking about the appearance of the rear of my car. I wanted to get it stealth like ish. So de-badged it apart from the special Griffin logo (Matches the front). I have put a carbon souround around the number plate. But I always felt the red rear lights were always too bright. I have seen a number of 9K's around with really smokey coloured rear panels. Today I found a can of lens tinting spray, so I gave it a bash.. :D

The clear section of the estate tail lamps are slightly smoked already, so I masked them off and only sprayed the red lenses. The transformation is instant.. I have used two coats but I fancy going darker all over. I will wait and have a light brightness check tonight and also check with a local MOT station as to how dark can I go.. :cheesy:

Whoops should given the tail pipes a polish :p

Looks good! Years ago (many years ago :D ) plod try to do me for a defective rear taillight on my moped. It had broken and I taped up and painted it red ;oops: ( I was really skint at the time) so it wasn't a very bright red light. It went to court, but I was let off as it seems as long as the tail light shows red there is no law as to how bright it needs to be. That was a long time ago mind you, so things may have changed since then, so I would still check with your MOT bloke.

Many years ago i bought a rear light tinting kit for my VW Scirocco and it came with brighter bulbs to complete the transformation the rear lenses when i had done them were nearly black and looked really cool. When i had it M.O.T'd it failed because of the reflectors that are inbuilt into the clusterwere not reflecting so i had to buy some aftermarket stick on ones for the test then took them off when i had the M.O.T. I also fitted a high level break light to stop anyone saying they couldn't see the brake lights after they had **** ended me...Looks cool though!!!!

I was looking in my Demon Tweeks catalogue today and found the product you used Finn, It says,

"Designed for show use and may not be legal for road use"

?????
The key word is MAY not be legal, they are covering thier backsides because you can put this spray on pretty thick if you wanted too. I checked with my local garage and they said mine wasnt a problem at all, infact if I hadnt pointed it out they wouldnt have noticed it  . Actually since I have done this I have been looking around and there a number of stock cars out there with even darker lights... :cheesy:
