Slave Cylinder issue on a 2007 9-3SS Aer0

1760 Views 16 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BKDRFT68
So I believe the slave cylinder went on my 9-3SS Aero, 2.8L V6 today. The car has 93K miles on it. I am aware this is internal. Does anyone happen to know a rough estimate of repair on this? I dont' believe I'll be able to tackle this one myself given the complexity. This is a 6-spd manual transmission. All transmission parts are stock/original.

thanks!

I had my clutch and slave done when the dealer replaced the rear main seal. Slave was $230, clutch kit was $261. They didn't charge me any labor so I can't give you an estimate on that. With that mileage it might not be a bad idea to get the flywheel replaced. ~$1000.

thanks!

thanks for the info. I'm figuring about 5 hours for labor? give or take?

I assume the '06 and '07 used the same transmission. i must admit OG Country is where I'm from. SS's are (currently) out of my league.

Thanks again.

As another Saaber from the Ocean State, I'm wondering where you will take it? I've heard that ConnTech on Cranston is an excellent independent. I have another Volvo-Saab indy here in Westerly whom I can recommend highly.

Mike Connelly (ConnTech) is on Jefferson BLVD in Warwick, right across from Jefferson Diner. He has been in that place for a little over 15 years now and is AWESOME!

When I can't work on my cars, he services my 88 C900, 99 OG9-3, previously my 03 9-3SS and currently my 07 9-3SS.

Mike and his wife, Sherri, are pretty big in SCNA as well and drive nothing but SAABs. All of their Tech's drive SAABs too. He is by far the best Indy I have ever come across.

Who in Westerly? Would they put in a clutch that I supply ya think?
Possibly. EuroCar, 401-596-9977, 58 Old Hopkinton Road. The proprietor, Ned Whitford, is primarily a Volvo specialist. Then Saab and Mercedes, then anything else. He won't work on Land Rover. He's good and exceedingly honest and he will talk to you. He has maintained my cars for most of the last decade. I also think that Secor in New London is a pretty good dealer, but they'd probably balk at using your parts.

Yes Indeed

Thanks! Good to have a personal recommendation. Matches what I've heard. Please let us all know how it comes out.
I will DEFINITELY let you know how it comes along. I am still waiting though. There as a HUGE line in front of me today. I am first in tomorrow. I called over and spoke to Sherri, told her that I'd call tomorrow around 1600 to see what the deal was.

It ended up being the Clutch Master Cylinder. This Master Cylinder did not leave a puddle/wet spot at all. The reservoir remained full. The issue was a slight crack in the "mini" reservoir, if you will within the Cylinder itself.
Symptoms:
Similar to a Clutch Slave Cylinder
No fluid appeared
Full Brake Fluid/Clutch Fluid reservoir
No signs of clutch failure
Clutch pedal immediately went to the floor with no resistance and did not come back up.
A slight wet spot observed at the boot under the dashboard, next to the carpet/fire wall
