Hello folks, first possible silly question...
The SID in my 9-3 has the often noted pixed deficiency syndrome, but only sometimes. There are times it works fine with a full set of pixels.
Now I've seen some mention about just replacing them but I have been thinking that it may only be a case of dirty electrical connections.
Has anybody any experience with this?
As I have not yet received my Haynes manual I am unsure as to how the SID unit comes out. Is there a neat trick or do I have to dive under the dash and blindly feel my way around?

Before I forget, when the SID has its pixel problem, so does the display on the ACC. I.e. both are OK or duff at the same time which makes me think they are connected somehow. Would this be wiring (dirty connections) or plain stuffed SID unit?

Thanks, I'll have a good read of that.

Search function didn't turn that one up.

It comes out very easily. Everyone has dud pixels & the fix is either sending it to BBA re manufacturing (~$70 + freight) or getting a connector kit with a T Bar soldering iron on ebay (~$45)

Hey there Musky,

What do you mean by "connector kit with a T Bar soldering iron"?

Got a linkypoo?
