I love my 2001. It has 112,000 miles runs good but A/C is gonzo and now the power steering hose is leaking. My mechanic says this is a $1500 to $2000 repair. OUCH. Is there a cheap fix? Is is worth spending that much $$ on it. Will it go 150 -175k miles??? Many thanks

AC gonzo & PS leak $$$

Please explain "AC is gonzo" and where the leak is, not very helpful in your description and welcome to SaabCentral
I meant the A/C does not work since my mechanic says up to $2K for fix the Power Steering leak should I quit now and cut my losses?

The mechanic says he can see the leak in the hose at a connection point but that he has to pull the engine to get at it it replace the hose.
Thanks Y'all

If the power steering is leaking at the junction behind the right front wheel and your mechanic says he needs to pull the engine to fix it then he is an idiot.

I cut out the bad/rusted pipe and replaced the junction with $35.00 worth of compression fittings purchased from a hydraulics shop.

Might want to look for a new mechanic too
The only expensive AC repair is the old method of fixing the Code 08 fault which cost over $1K. The new repair method for this fault should be under $200 now, parts & labor.

Unless the evaporator is toast, in which case it doesn't really matter since replacement evaporators are no longer available. :(
