Shop Recommendations in Massachusetts

Hi Everyone,

I just relocated to MA and although my oldie Saab is running fine one never knows when one might need an indie wrencher.

I live in Norwood about 30 minutes outside of Boston and looking for a good independent shop that knows Saab's and takes pride in customer satisfaction. Fyi I in no way want to visit Boston proper to get work done its a pain in the rear and Im not keen on driving in Boston to boot.

Just put 5K in 3 weeks travel and this car is amazingly reliable IF one maintains accordingly which I try my best to do but I am not a mechanic. Id like to keep the car for a few more years as it just reached the 150K mark.

Anyway any shops in area that can be recommended would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

You can add JG Saab Service in Lunenberg to that list too. John is a good guy and long time SAAB mechanic.

Excellent. I see there are plenty of shops ready and able to keep my Swedish beauty on the road. I really appreciate all the recommendations here it will definetely come in handy when the time arises to get some work done that I am not able to wrench.

FYI - If you need partial DIY to help out i.e. pressing some strut bearings, etc, The Doctor and Swedish Auto Works will do that. If you need machine works, there's KTR Racing in Ayer or Aubrey's in Hudson, MA. Neitehr are Saab specialists but they can do machine work.

Well' I'd trust the mechanic if you do, but that doesn't mean the part didn't fail into an open state.

Does the gauge on the dash show the engine is cold or is it at 9:00 on the dial i.e. are you just getting cold air through the heater box or is the engine itself indicating it's cold?

The car was sold to me by the mech I trust so I doubt he's try and screw me not replacing the thermostat still those either work or dont...

Engine is at 9 o'clock when warmed up but it seems when I am on the hwy at rev's between 2-3k the heat feels hotter than driving the city streets with stop and go idles. Coolant is not leaking and filled as well. I am getting tepid heat and I can hear the blend doors close and no issues with the manual HVAC controls. I am stumped.

Unless the heater core is on the way out(what are the symptoms)....
