My 99 9-5 sedan is getting new tires (Nokian WRG2's) on Thursday.

Got ~95K Miles on car at the moment. Whats a recommended time to replace shocks and struts? Never been done according to service records I have (back to 18K miles from previous owner).

My co-worker does his every 30 K miles. (Drives Audi A3, new, but has done so on all previous cars he's owned). Seems a bit excessive...

Car seems solid for all intents...

Vibration at idle is prob. engine mounts, vibration at high speed is tires (old ones, 70K miles on them).

What are signs that the shocks, struts need replacing?

Creaking, groaning and poor rebound control...

Rear shocks go quickly so around your mileage but theres no point in replacing them if they are fine (unless you want a performance upgrade!)

Fronts tend to last longer.

30k miles is very very excessive... either he's got sh!t stuff on his car or he drives it like a 4x4...

A good set of bilsteins will last eternity apparently, or at least will see out your engine/gearbox etc

Vibration at idle is engine mounts generally (well in other cars ive owned before the saab) but its made worse if ure car is an auto and u dont put it into neutral at lights
