Attach tape around the carrier underneath the gearknob.
Use a 32mm open end ring spanner and place on the carrier underneath the gearknob.
Tap the ring spanner with a hammer from underneath to lift the knob and carrier.
Remove the tape, remove the knob from carrier using a small screwdriver to press in the 3 plastic lugs on the carrier. (lugs are located under the gear positions 1st, 5th and 4th). Note the steel spring under the knob.
WIS says you can't reuse the old knob and must replace with a new one!
I had that happen to mine, even though the guy was pretty good it isnt the same( the stitching is hard to replicate). I would ideally like to replace it with a carbon fibre one but they were a limited thing apparantly.
