Now, things are about to get real. PAY ATTENTION.

1. Open up your flash drive, and double click on the keygen folder we made all that time ago. Be sure there are still two files in there - KeyGen.bat and KeyGen.class.
2. Click on the Start menu
3. Click Run
4. Type C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\tis2web\WEB-INF\lib
5. Click OK
6. Drag KeyGen.bat and KeyGen.class from your flash drive into this window
7. Close the flash drive window. Leave the other window - C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\tis2web\WEB-INF\lib, titled "lib" - open
8. Click on the Start menu
9. Click All Programs
10. Click Acessories
11. Click Command Prompt
12. Type

cd\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\tis2web\WEB-INF\lib

and press Enter
13. Find your Notepad window, the one where we edited that 64-character Software Key
14. Select that entire 64-character key - BE SURE YOU SELECT THE ONLY THE KEY, NO SPACES OR RETURNS OR ANYTHING ELSE
15. Click Edit->Copy
16. Return to your Command Prompt window
17. Type:

keygen

DO NOT PRESS ENTER
18. Press the space bar ONCE
19. In the top left corner of the Command Prompt window, click on the little command prompt icon
20. Choose Edit
21. Choose Paste
22. The 64-character software key should appear on the command line
23. WITHOUT PRESS ENTER, just start typing

> key.txt
24. Now, finally, press Enter
25. More or less nothing should happen.
25. Type

exit

and press Enter

Your command prompt window will close. You can also close Notepad. You do not need to save the file in Notepad. We're done with that.

Now, let's get back to that registration.

1. Find the C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\tis2web\WEB-INF\lib window, titled "lib" that we left open earlier. Look around in there for a text document called key and double click on it. There should be a short character string (your Subscriber ID), another 64-character string (your License Key), and "From Russia with Love."
Hey guys,

I am going through the installation process step-by-step following this thread, and I am getting hung up on this part for some reason. Hopefully someone knows a solution and can help me out?

When I do the part where you copy the software key into the Command Prompt, type >> key.txt., and hit enter, I get "Access is denied." back from the prompt, and there is no key.txt file in the folder. (See pic below). I've made it this far without any issue. I'm doing this on a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, Running Windows 7 32 Bit, Intel 5, 8 GB Ram, and 256 GB SSD. I'm running it through my Admin account on this laptop, which is the only account I have. Please help! I need to marry a new ABS Module to my Saab ASAP!

I’ll go back and read some notes tomorrow. Don’t you have to MK or CP in order to make a copy a file? Or at least open an existing txt file and edit it. We’ll figure it out tomorrow.

Not only do you have to run it under an administrator account, you also have to run the command line as administrator!

This will probably do the trick! I’ve been a Mac guy for over a decade and haven’t touched a PC in ages. (I bought an ancient laptop exclusively to run my Tech2). I have someone who is more well-versed on PCs, I’m sure he will be able to help me get Command Prompt in admin mode.

Enter this into the terminal then hit return

sudo

You’ll be prompted for an admin password. Provide that, then proceed in creating the entry you want. This gets you super user privileges for a specific period of time. I can’t remember the time limit but it should be ample to do what you’re doing.

If you're like me, you probably disappeared a 22oz of Drake's while you waited for GlobalTIS to install, so things may get a little rough. Stick with it. You can do anything you put your mind to.

At long last you get to click Done, and GlobalTIS is installed. Now we need to crack it.

First, locate the GlobalTIS icon on your desktop. Double click on it. Internet Explorer will load, and it will probably take a long time before anything happens. Be patient, let it sit there.

IE will eventually respond with a popup advising you information sent over the internet isn't secure. That's cool, make sure the "Don't show this..." box is checked and click Yes.

Look at the top of the screen, and note the warning "Intranet settings are turned off by default...." We need to turn them back on, so click on the banner where it says "Click for options" and choose Enable Intranet Settings. You will get a warning dialog, click Yes.

You will be returned to the GlobalTIS registration page. You need to pay attention here:

1. Click Edit Dealership Data
2. Fill out EVERYTHING. The data is going nowhere, use whatever information you like, BUT note the Dealership ID. Use the same ID you provided earlier. If you're me, that'd be 599599.
3. Click Save when you're done.
4. You will be notified the dealer data has been stored, click OK.
5. Don't change the user count, don't change the brand subscription
6. Click Email/Fax Registration
7. IE will pop up asking for a place to save a file. The default is My Documents. Just leave it, click Save.
8. Click Close to dismiss the download dialog
9. In the GlobalTIS window, click the Logout button.
10. Confirm you wish to log out.
11. Close Internet Explorer

Next we need to get some information.

1. Click on the Start menu
2. Click on My Documents
3. Double click on the file called "registration" - this is the file GlobalTIS made just a minute ago
4. Foxit will open and display a PDF with a GM Europe Header.
5. Scroll to the bottom and find the Request ID and the Software Key
6. Click on the Start menu
7. Click on All Programs
8. Click on Accessories
9. Click on Notepad
10. In the Foxit window, select the 64-character Software key.
11. Right click on your selection and choose Copy
12. Click on the Notepad window.
13. Click Edit->Paste
14. Your 64-character Software Key will appear in Notepad.
15. Edit that key so it's all on one line, and remove all the hyphens.

Now, things are about to get real. PAY ATTENTION.

2. Find the GlobalTIS icon on your desktop again, and double click on it. It should load much faster this time!
3. Scroll to the bottom and locate Section 6, the Subscriber ID and License Key boxes.
4. Copy and paste the strings from key.txt into the GlobalTIS registration window.
5. Scroll down further in the GlobalTIS registration window and click Register License Key
6. READ THE WARNING - it's going to take some time - then press OK.
7. HAHA - fooled you! It's done instantly. Press the logout button.

Close all the windows. ALL OF THEM.

You are done. GlobalTIS is installed!

Anyone wanna buy a Dell Vostro 320 all-in-one? LOL
Thank you, jvanabra! You are truly amazing! I followed your instructions, very carefully and TIS2000 and GlobalTIS work great, the first time, and I now have level 1 security access! BTW, I use a Dell Latitude D630, with an SSD, which scoots things right along! And, the built in serial port, helps matters. I picked it up on a school surplus, for a dollar (since I work in school systems, in IT). I got it for my son, but he never used it, and he said that I could claim it (he's a good boy!). Now, I can reprogram some annoyances, in my 07 9-3 2.0T! Thanks again! Saab on!

Today I am going through the TIS2000 installation process following the excellent instructions in this thread. Everything was going well until I got to the "dongle emulator" section. After double clicking on DDINST32.EXE and selecting Express installation, I got this error - "ERROR! Registry access error" Is there anyone that knows how to fix? I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running XP SP3, version 2014 (with the SP4 upgrade) and these are the instructions:

After TIS2000 is installed, you need to install the dongle emulator.
1. Open up the flash drive on the old computer
2. Double click on the TIS2000 folder
3. Double click on the Drivers folder
4. Double click on DDINST32.EXE
5. Choose Express installation
6. When it's done, choose Exit

Why not just install the slightly newer and backward compatible GlobalTIS?

My plan is to follow the installation instructions from start to finish, installing both TIS2000 and GlobalTIS. With this error I will now fast forward to the GlobalTIS section and install it. I have a 2004 Saab 9-3 and thought that the GlobalTIS was mostly used for newer models.

Thanks for your quick reply and assistance!
