Hello I am new to this forum and just picked up a 1993 Saab 900 Turbo (convertible). The car is going to need a mechanical overhaul before it gets on the road. I have ordered the Bentley manual and I am going to start with the basics, but I did have a question.

At some point a previous owner decided that it would be a good idea to put some self tapping screws into the charge pipes.

See Here

How would you go about fixing this? Are the aluminum parts available? Take everything apart and patch up the holes and replace the rubber? Any ideas?

Thanks, hope you don't mind having me around...

I would put the original hose clamps on properly (straight, centered in the molded slots). Your video shows sloppily assembled pipes.
Screwing it together is a solution in search of a problem.

They might be... Or I guess maybe the repair would be ugly.

I had a similar (not screws, though) situation a while back, and what worked was sectioning a can of Coke and wrapping it around the pipe with a smear of RTV to seal it. The original rubber couplers and hose clamps slipped mostly over the repair area so nothing went anywhere. It wasn't super attractive but worked perfectly for many years... The car died of body damage, not the repair. ;)

Depending on what the end goal is, one nice option might just be buy a do88 intercooler & pipe kit. Had that existed in 2006 it definitely would have been my approach. ;)

What I would do is replace the silicone pieces and make sure they are in placed properly, and then put an extra clamp down over the silicone & where the hole would be, in junction with something like javeabra said.

Until you can find replacements.

Those will work on any 16v 900 turbo but were sold on 1990+ cars. They are the more desirable variety. It looks like the coupler from the pipe to the throttle body is missing, though, so hopefully yours is in good shape.
