Hi,

have had my saab 95 aero for almost 4 years now. it has 111,000 miles on it. just been away to Devon for a week, and car is running real well, averaging 35mpg motorway, and town, and 40 mpg on a run on motorway..

Just occurred to me it seems a little down on power, and not have the oomph it used to... and consumption do good too.

could it be a problem with the turbo ?

how can i test that it is spooling up...?

Al...

just been having a look at why my car seems a little low on power. took off the aluminium heatshield onver the exhaust, and checked the turbo actuator is working i.e. pliers on it and it seems to move freely... took the plastic cover off that covers the throttle body, the one towwards the back of the engine. you have to take the oil filler of to remove it.

then noticed that a vacuum hose connected to the bosch plastic valve thingy on the front was disconnected on the inlet manifold...side

what does that hose do ?

would it mean that i had a drop in perfomance if that plastic valve thingy was not working properly...???

how can i check the actuation of the turbo wastegate where can i get vacuum to see if it works, and how can i check the bosch plastic valve.???

sorry for so many questions, but i would like to be able to fault find this area... ??

Thank Al....

That plastic bosche valve in the front is your Bypass valve..it releases unused air and recirculates it back into the system when the throttle body is closed, preventing cavitation ( air being forced back through the turbo, slowing it down rapidly. Not good for the turbo.). If your getting this you would know for certain, youll hear a distinctive fluttering noise.
