I have a failing radio in my 97 900SE. Volume doesn't work, daughters cassette is stuck. In looking on ebay for a replacement (stock) the sellers say they have Vin # and you can get the security code by taking to dealer. Will the dealers do this for you? Am i better off getting an aftermarket stereo? What functionality of the SID do you lose? I have the one with all the bells and whistles from 97.

Thanks.

The tarpot is 100% right , without the security code, it could well be a stolen unit !!

IMO, you are better off with OEM, but many will disagree and with good points.
Our '97SE has some unit from Circuit City (not recommended), the ergonomics are poor and the CD player is unreliable. They would not honor the warranty for the PO..
