Well...Iam finally giving up on my 93-SS. It's been a really great car, with no real mechanical issues. Plus, I spent over 5k in upgrades, including: 18" euro BBS wheels and tires, Body kit, chrome exhaust tips, metal interior accents, rear spoiler, BSR PPC, Aux in with XM and Ipod. While I love the car, i have gotten to a point where i hate the interior noises. I know...most people would not even hear them, but I do. And around LA roads, they are more pronounced. I was going to wait until the 06 V6 was in, but my fear is that SAAB has not fixed the interior rattles and buzzes, and I would be back into another 2 years of irritation.

SO - I am ending my lease 6 months early and selling my car, or if i have no buyers, just turning it in early. It's a shame that my 40k car is only worth 20k at the end of the lease. Even with the rattles, it deserves much better.

This is the single best forum i have ever seen. My compliments to the originators, moderators, and to everyone who uses it. It was extremely helpful during my year and half owning a SAAB. I had a blast.

I did stay with Swedish though. I pick up my new Volvo S60R today, and am having it PPC'd too, making for over 360 HP. YEAH!

Keep SAAB'ing guys!

ParkStephen,
Sad to see you go... Thanks for helping me with my locking fuel filler door. Everytime I fill up I will think of you driving that stinkin Volvo...:) I agree with you about this forum. I also have a new Dodge Ram and I try and hang out there some too, whew, its like night and day. SAAB owners must be more intellectual:cheesy:. You have to fish through so many red neck posts just to find any pearls of wisdom, not so over here. Take care and hope to see you back from time to time.

Man your lucky, I love the way the S60R look. Unfortunetly they are out of my price range, but I still am stuck on my 9-3, so Im not too jealous.

Post some pics when you get it, I love seeing those cars.

It seems your into aftermarket, so I would check out what Evolve is doing with the S60R and S40, they are gorgeous. Bit pricy for their stuff, but its quality as hell and really clean.

Congrats!

The real question is how can you turn in a leased car that's been modded? I don't think you can. I believe you have to return it to stock condition.

Not to sound like a jerk, but why would you dump $5K in upgrades into a leased car?
You are not a jerk. But everybody's priorities and what they want differs. I originally planned on keeping this car past the lease. Hence my upgrades. I had absolutely no idea that in today's age - a car could rattle and creak so much at any and all body flex.

Like I said...I still love this car and it's design. I'm sure I would have loved the 6 even more. When I found out about the V6, i was planning on switching the body kit, wheels, bike racks, etc. over the new one - giving them even more residual as it were. But I came to a point where I won't live with the noises in my ears. Especially after months and months of trying fixes that simply do not work.

You do not have to turn it in stock - as long as the upgrades are more $$ than the stock. Plus, all of my upgrades are SAAB. The PPC, or course, does not apply.

S60R Price & First impressions

I got a really good deal on my S60R. It is silver with blue metallic leather, 18" Pegasus rims, Geartronic, and every other option except for Navigation. I did not get nav as the Ford/Volvo version is very slow on re-routs etc.

The sticker was $47,000, then I upgraded the tire size and added the integrated iPod commander and the 20 gig digital jukebox feature - which is basically an iPod like hard drive that you load up to 400 cd's. My end price was $41,000. I leased from the number one Southern California dealer - and when I was in for the test drive they were 5 cars short for the month. They met my terms and I drove out with it.

First impressions:

EXTREMELY fast. Interior is very, very high quality. Total car is very solid sounding everywhere. PPC arrives next week and will make it a total rocket. Amazing seats, stereo, handling, Active suspension ROCKS!

Drawback - turing radius is the worst ever. But I knew that going in. Also - not as much leg room in the rear (i'm single so who cares), no auto lock feature, no auto down in rear windows. All other featurs match the 93.

If SAAB could do the quality fit and finish like Volvo - it would be the perfect car..much like the previous gen 5 series. I still like the looks of the 93 a smidge better, but both are hot cars.

The great thing for me after taking such a loss on my 93 in upgrades, (i still have a PPC that i have no idea with to do with) etc...is that the only mods to this car are mods i would never do. So I get the speed and looks and quality, and don't have to shell out extra cash. Even without the PPC, this car flies. And the growl and engine sound is...exciting.

Photos to follow.
