I am getting ready for spring by changing over my 16" snows for my 5 spoke vector 17" rims. I was curious as to the weight of the wheel. I looked up on SAAB's computer the shipping weights of some of the Sport Sedan wheels. I am sure these weights are pretty accurate, maybe subract a pound for the cardboard box and foam?

12785709 10 spoke arc 16"x6.5 22.063 lbs

12785711 5 spoke vector 17"x7 24.25 lbs

12785710 5 spoke twin aero 17"x7 28.688 lbs

12787995 15 spoke 17"x7 22.063 lbs

12786708 3 spoke double evo 17"x7 23.438 lbs

Interesting that the 17" 5 spoke twin aero is the heaviest of the 17" rims, I thought it would be the lightest.

Thanks for the info...

I am trying to pic new wheels (currently 10 spoke 16") and I definitelt don't want to increase unsprung weight.

I keep andinf up back at some BBS wheel but they are just so pricey. I've seen some other great options that people chose but nothing really jumps out at me. I may have to find a discontinued BBS wheel (RKs maybe).

I really think a gray/anthracite wheel would look sweet on my midnight blue car, black maybe but the later may stick out against the trim. Anything but blinged out chrome has a chance.

Did the computer have weights for the 5-spoke 17" wheels that came with the Sport Package? I'm curious as to how much those weigh. Thanks in advance.

Partsmanager,

Brilliant way to get the wheel weights. Surprising that that 5 spoke twin is sooooo heavy when it looks so light!
Good work.

Hey, they dont still ship Viggen wheels do they? I heard a number but I'm still in denial....

In the 5th page, top row of the SaabCentral - 9-3SS Gallery, "Scott Sylke's 9-3 SS" has pics of the wheels I'm referring to. Page 7 "Brian Hagan Jr's 9-3 SS" has them too. Each spoke blends into the rim a little differently from PN 12785711. They used to be listed in the SAAB Catalogue but are no longer.

The pic is the 16" rim, they did not have a pic of the 17", but I used that pic because it looks similar. Sorry for the confusion.

Those 17" 5 spokes are part# 12785711, 17"x7 , 24.25 lbs.

edit: found a pic ( if it shows up)

These are the ones I have myself.

Fast Ed;
The VIGGEN rim shows up as 30.875 lbs.

Hi guys, very surprised !

My mate and i did an evaluation of the AERO vs EVO rim and found the AERO to be lighter.. considerably by 2-3 pounds at least.
We didnt weigh them on the scale exactly but only whilst changing tires!
Unless both of us were wrong or
the aero rim has different packing material to make it heavier or
we have diffrent manufacturers making the same looking rim??

perplexed;)

dude your weight on the twin spoke aero's is way off. FYI
I always wondered why I though my BBS (26lbs) felt heavier than the stock wheel. Keeping in mind I thought they weighed 28.668 lbs.

yeah i've had them on and off the car with tires on before and knew there was no way the wheels were ~29 lbs alone.... they don't feel much heavier than that with the tires on.... so i whipped out the scale today while i was getting new tires put on. and voila!

myth busted. ;)
