Hi,

I've just made the switch from BMW to Saab and have bought a 2003 93Aero. Problem is that now I don't have any real information. I know that there are a lot of GM parts on Saab's and they're a lot cheaper to buy.

What I'm looking for but can't find, is a list of Vauxhall part numbers alongside the original Saab part numbers. I know a friendly Vauxhall dealer, but they don't do Saab and so can't compare the numbers.

If anyone has, or knows where I can get this information then it would be appreciated. I'm not looking for every last nut and bolt, but service parts and suspension bushes etc would be useful.

Thanks

You need to get the Saab Electronic Parts Catalogue(EPC) and the Vauxhall epc disks and you can compare the part numbers yourself. On a lot of SAAB and vauxhall components they have two part numbers. A saab/vauxhall part number and a GM part number.

The Vectra C shares all the suspention, brakes, gearboxes and engine blocks(and most but not all ancilleries)

Infact, the Vectra VXR 345mm discs/calipers are identical to the 345mm hirsch calipers at about a third of the cost of hirsch!!

There's some SAAB/GM North-American parts shared on some models, but nothing like Europe. You have to understand that GM Europe has integrated a lot of SAAB parts in their models since they were the "parent company" and because the proximity factor.

For GM US that was another game, let's first assume there's might be a feeling in the US development team that what was originating from Europe was not needed for them or could be produced locally and improved! Then add the major differences in models sold in North America vs Europe plus the extra cost to ship parts manufactured oversea to be mounted on cars in US factories. The results are some cars sharing the Epsilon platform (brakes, wheels), a radio in a Chevrolet Cobalt (link below), steering wheel controls on a Pontiac and so on but nothing as close as Vauxhall/SAAB since our powertrains aren't offered here on GM models.

Cambridge, Massacheusettes or Cambidge, England ?
For these parts, as listed. I have been using aftermarket for the past 40 plus years, with good results.
I even used a Toyota(as listed) air filter for the 96.
We have people here in the states who use Chevrolet parts in the Cadillacs...and some VW stuff fits Mercedes!
