This might save you time and money.
My 2003 9-3 2.0t saloon (82,000 miles) developed an auto gearbox fault. It would not select 1st or 2nd gear. My local SAAB dealer said to have the car recovered to them and they would start investigations. DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
I thought about a quick remortgage and called the RAC.
The guy turned up and I explained the fault and that he needed to take the car to SAAB.
Instead, he lifted the bonnet, disconnected the battery and had a cup of tea.

After complimenting me on my tea making, he reconnected the battery. Problem fixed!
He said "It's just a big heavy computer. All I did was to switch it off and switch it back on again."
I'd hate to think what the main dealer would have charged me for that.
