Hi,

I hope I'm putting this in the right area - I've got a Saab 900 XS, 97 auto, that has started to die just after I start it - it fires up, and then goes.
All sounds OK, although there is a little mid range whirring after I give it some gas.
Any ideas?

Other than the usual things, I would guess a bad temp sensor - but this must be tested.
I think that during the hot weather that a car will usually run fine without this - but then it does depend on HOW it is going to malfunction...
The whirring noise ??
Check the belt pulleys.

Tks earthworm - checked the belts and pulleys - all were new last year and all look good - I wondered if it could be the pump? ie gets the gas to get going but not enough to keep going?
