Right i have purchased the engine for my viggen....should be ready next week......cant wait to get it back...so what is the standard miles i should do and speed and proceedure for running in a new engine before i thrash the living daylights out of it

new-car break in period is usually 500-1000 miles... i'd go with the 1000mi end of that range personally! and they say to keep the RPMs down during that time of course. also i'd change the oil after that period is up.

normal driving speeds; stick to the speed limit/traffic flow. which i'm sure we're all doing anyway, RIGHT? :cheesy: i doubt it will explode instantly if you hit 90mph, but no reason to push it

another note is to make sure you re-torque the head bolts after the first few days of driving it to make sure they're on properly, especially since that is sometimes an issue with saabs.

They say to vary your speed too, so no cruise control. Get a magnetic drain plug to be extra cautious.
