i have noticed a very low grade rumble coming from the rear of my 900 classic(injct 3 door). just behind the rear seat i.e in the boot and on the drivers side and beyond the spare tyre storgae area.

its hardly noticeable and only there when the engine is switched on. i am guessing it could be a noisy bit of exhaust pipe or box but wondered if there is anything else in that area that this could be?

the cat converter has been replaced recently but the tail pipe and box look quite old and ready to be replaced.

Fuel pump is in that area. I'm told they start to get noisy and then they break. Not sure how long between noise and break though...

Is the noise present only when the vehicle is moving? If so, then perhaps it's something drivetrain related, like a wheel bearing.

the noise is there whilst parked.

have found the area and it is eminating from the fuel tank so the fuel pump is going to get checked over i think.
