Hi, have got down to item 12 on my 'Things to fix on Saab' list - the hood electrics!

Basically, the problem is this:The roof goes down fine, but will not go back up forcing me to open the boot, flip the hydraulics bypass valve and haul it up manually - not very cool.;oops:

I thought the 'up' relay might have popped, but I've swapped the 'up' and the 'down' relays over and nothing has changed.

Before this problem occurred, the roof fuse blew a couple of times so I think it's bad wiring or possibly the actual switch. I want to test all the roof electrics, but my Haynes manual doesn't have a diagram for the roof circuits.

Does anybody have a copy, or know where I can get copy of the relevent schematic(s)? Or, even better, does anybody have an idea what the problem might be?

Cheers,

Hef

I strongly suspect the switch, too. They are easy to come by, but in a pinch on my '88 I can use one of the window switches to test the roof since all of the switches in my car are individual switches mounted in a bezel. The roof switch, sunroof swtich and window switches are interchangeable EXCEPT the front driver's side -- it has the 'auto down' feature. Yours may be the first year with the window switches integrated into one piece? You can check and substitute one for the roof switch to test.

Otherwise, it seems to be a wiring issue if the top does nothing.

If the top makes noise and goes nowhere, then hydraulics.

And, I believe that this is from an 87-88 manual, but it will be close to yours:

The Bentley 16V 900 manual has excellent electrical schematics.
