well i need new tires soon and i was looking around and came across some wheel and tire packages for fairly cheap.....but now im not sure whether to go with 17 or 18" wheels......i know 18's will be slower and a rougher ride....how much rougher of a ride is it?? i want it to look really good but i also dont want it to be very noticably slower

2 things, 18" wheels = brakes looking stupidly small;

I've got 17"s and the ride is hard, especially when I can compare to a choice of 9000's with 16" wheels

For, IMO, the best in "looks" - and this is so subjective - beauty is in the eye of the the beholder - style and the "in thing" are usually two different things..
Go for chrome plated 15" original wheels and good quality rubber. This will yield a degree of elegance and give the best in ride and engine performance.
Absolute cornering/handling will take a back seat, important if you go racing on a daily basis.....

I cannot understand this nutsy thing with wheel size...At one time Honda used a 12" "wheel" !. The oversized American cars used 13" and 14" - these were obviously too small !! Saab stuck with 15" and looked good...
Now they want to use 18" to 20" - obviously too ...........
