Hi so this the third time I’ve had to remove the airbag / steering wheel / clock spring etc on my 92 turbo vert - the lock ring seems to keep slipping up over time and doing no kind of locking at all - I was told that that I fit it with the flanges facing down - can someone confirm if this is right ? Can’t work out what is happening - when I put the bushing on and for the lock ring it is very firmly in place but overtime it slips up the shaft allowing the bushing to come out - any advice please

The inner spring tabs on lock ring face up

towards steering wheel. Should be able to press lock ring easily onto steering shaft using a deep socket. Not easy at all if tabs are facing down. Also have to replace locking screw for plate that holds outer bearing cushion into its cavity at end of steering housing.

Thanks ! I did post this request in another thread the other day ! Wish I got it before I did the job - I fitted the lock ring the wrong way. Thanks for the help ! Back to work !
