Hi! I have a 2000 base 9-3 that needs the thermostat replaced.

I look in the Haynes manual, and it says that on 1999 and 2000 models there is a rigid pipe that needs to be removed in order to remove the thermostat cover. And when I look at the cover, sure enough there is a support strap connected to the thermostat cover from a rigid tube that is below the thermostat cover.

Just hoping someone has a tip that will allow me to remove that cover and replace the thermostat without removing that lower rigid pipe (like maybe bending that support strap back in order to get the cover off???). Any other tips would also be welcomed!

Thanks! Then did you bend it back and reattach it after you changed the thermostat or did you leave well-enough alone and leave it unattached?
