Took on a small project this morning to replace a bulb behind the MCC on my 2005 9-3. It's pretty simple really, but sometimes pics are helpful so I thought I'd share the process.
If you're taking this on I'll assume you've got the MCC removed already, but if not there is a great tutorial here - he is actually showing the cup holder removal, but at about 1:00 he shows the MCC removal.

Once you've got the MCC in hand the first step is to remove the 4 screws on the back - I used a T8 torx, honestly I had a little bit of wiggle with the T8, so it may be a 9, but the 8 worked fine as they aren't all that tight.
There is no good trick or tool to get all of those tabs apart besides a little patience and a couple of small screwdrivers so that you can get a few tabs down at once to get started. The tabs push in towards the unit.
Once you've got all of the tabs cleared you should be able to open the MCC exposing the circuit board on one side and the controls on the other.
You should see the two bulbs on the circuit board.
The bulb turns pretty easily, I did it from the back just to avoid grasping the bulb itself to turn it. It only turns about 1/8 of a turn until the little ears on the bulb line up with the opening on the circuit board.
And that's it!!
I am going to replace both since..well...why not? I am going to order these today - http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/33189/Light-Bulb-A-C-Panel-12799844/ - I have some concern about the fit as they look just a little different, but their site says "for any 9-3 03-11 with manual a/c heat controls (without ACC)" so I am going to take a chance.
Hope this is helpful for someone, and I will post back about whether or not the bulbs were a fit.
