My dashboard occasionally lights up and all gauges drop. My mechanic did diagnostics and did not find any codes, but guessed that this is ignition switch issue.

I agree with him, since my running daylight do not turn off if I turn off ignition key to quickly.

So I am planning to replace ignition switch:

I have this tutorial how to reach ignition switch:

but I am not sure how to remove Ignition Lock Cylinder. Has anybody done it before? Is it too difficult?

Regards

most of the items within the platonoff description if its an automatic aren't necessary, the ignition switch shifter housing is one unit and the keyset doesn't need to be removed the actual "switch"is bolted at the bottom of the unit so you need to turn it on its side to gain access to it, the whole job is not difficult maybe a 4 out of 10.

EDIT just looked at the eeuro parts link, you'll probably need the actual switch, that item comes with the switch bot you can get just the switch and its easier to replace(you won't need to pull the keyset)

a small allen wrench fit into the hole on the key housing pushes in a "key" which allows the cylinder to be removed, you can do that while everything is still in the car, some pull it to clean it for ease of turning and key removal, the switch is located under that and will be 2 screws to take it out from underneath. If you don't have the WIS it's a great tool to figure out how to take anything apart, search the forum, many references to it here.
