Our 2006 9-3 Aero convertible already has the in-dash 6 CD changer installed and working, however it is starting to exhibit some issues with skipping, etc.

So I've picked up a used in-dash 6 CD changer from another 2006 9-3 sedan I want to switch out to see if it works better.

Can I just swap them out and it will work, or do I have to "divorce" the existing changer then "marry" the replacement changer with a Tech2?

This. Done it myself. Still skipped though so I removed it with my tech2 so I wouldn't have to cycle through it to get to AUX. Now it's just 1 button push of CD straight to AUX.
