Has anyone ever replaced the third brake light, strip on the top of 9-5 Wagon? I am getting a brake light failure and the third brake light strip is not lighting. The saab site lists this as a Diode with a replacement cost of 70 bucks. Could it be a loose or bad connection or do these burn out?

They do burn out, replacement is the only option on the wagon, the sedan you can change the bulbs. :x
I thought LEDS comparising with traditional bulbs have a very long lifespan?

The LED's themselves do have a large life span.
I would have to assume it's part of the electronics that fail. As each LED is about 3.6 volts and 25-30ma they have to make a circuit to provide this, from a batter of 12-14 volts and infinate amps. (relative)

my $0.02
