I read in a previous post the ability to open up and clean the neutral/range transmission switch to fix the "check gearbox" problem when starting up in cold weather. I pursued my switch but found that removing the battery above it did not provide any better access since the battery sits on a welded support plate. (I have a 97 900SE turbo.)

Has anyone else removed this switch on a similar car and if so, can you provide any helpful tips & tricks to do it?
