Does anybody have any tips on removing and replacing the
impact fascia boad under the dash and steering wheel, as I want
to try this...

I believe it's just 3 bolts... 2 in the engine bay, and 1 in the centre consul,
but would like an idea of the process involved!

Thanks as always....;ol;

I think this should help you out. http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=783653&postcount=7
There's also a fixing in the middle behind the ashtray. You will need to remove the centre console. Just for reference when re-installing, there are two clips behind the knee fascia on each side that clip into the metal sub-frame. Pull down a bit to free them, and push up to engage. You will see them upon removal. If they are not engaged properly there is potential for rattling.

I did it earlier this year, I remember having to pull much harder than expected. I was afraid I was going to break something, but then it finally dropped out.
