I`ve just discovered that I have a worn wheel bearing at the back of my car; while I was checking over all the rear suspension components I noticed something...

In the middle of the rear springs is a long plasic tube; which has become detached at one side of the car and is sitting loose.

It seems to have a threaded bolt at one end which I would have though would screw into the car body; however it does not want to.

More interestingly there is a air line going into this device - what is it for?!?

Any ideas welcome!

Ben.

Some.. Saabs came with Air Bag Spring Helper/load levelers .. (extra cost option I believe).. you have found the remains of that system. Should be a Big black rubber cylinder fitting inside the rear spring.. almost completely filling the space.. That's the Air Spring Gizmo.. had it still been there you would have noticed it :)

Hi guys, thanks for the quick replys!

Basre: The system is still there - the cylinder inside one of the back springs has come away from the car body.

Thanks all.

Ben.
