I got a new pair of red bulbs for the back and the Check was OK for a week but then that rear fog light failure message is showing up again. I'm not sure what the problem is...

Have you checked bulb holder?

Check wiring, check socket. Remove bulb socket from trunk lid and turn on rear fogs and wiggle it around.

1. Probably not. All I know is that all 3 bulbs on each side are properly inserted without them popping out.

Yeah, I'm also confused on what you replaced and what's out now. Had no idea the car had a bulb check on the rear fog. How often are you using rear fogs that you've gone through a bulb anyways?

I use mine when I get a dip tailgating,which thankfully is once in a blue moon these days.

Wrong bulb holder.
Right bulb holder have 2 bulbs, 1 red (rear fog light) and 1 clear (reverse). It is located in lid and you have to remove lid trim panel first
