Just joined this site and have a few questions.
So my 2001 9-5 2.3t is bone stock, I just ordered a open air intake and putting a cat back in soon. But I was curious, after this can I jump straight to a bigger turbo or will I need all kinds of supporting mods? And my other question, I'm not to great with computers, would this inhibit me from working with the t7suite or can anyone mess around with it?

  • I would not jump to a bigger turbo. For less money you can get a 3-inch downpipe which will allow your current turbo to do more.

  • Don't even consider messing with T7 Suite unless you are very skilled with computers. For one thing you will need to build hardware (specialized cables and adapters) to allow your EPC to be connected to your laptop. Again, you are consideirng $900 or more for a turbo when a pre-programmed EPC, (done by someone who understands the computer, the software, and the physics of combustion) can be purchased for ~$300.

When you say "it will let my turbo do more" do you mean I increase the psi or it'll just flow a little better? And how much do you think it would cost for that?

here are some links: i have the 1st one, good quality

GenuineSaab/Taliaferro: Stainless work of art, but expensive.

JT 3" Downpipe: Aluminized and not nearly as pretty, but it gets the job done. This is the cheapest option, though I don't know of any vendor domestically that sells the downpipe by itself. You can order directly from JT in Sweden, but it takes a while to receive stuff from them.

Custom Tubes Inc (CTI): The least popular option, but I know a few people here have it. I believe it's stainless and uses a run of the mill Magnaflow converter.

indeed a work of art, and I have it as well. In retrospect I wish the 2006 Aero King Cobra pipe/conversion had been available when I bought this as I would have bought that instead, but oh well.

I have the CTI 3" stainless and it's amazing. It sounds fan-effing-tastic, and it looks stock with a nice polished oval tip. Highly recommended.

My 9000 Aero is all Abbotted out and I have to say the stuff is quality. The previous owner put the Abbott stuff on there; I probably would have gone with another because the Abbott stuff is pricey, plus you have to pay for shipping across the pond.
